Physio & Health Matters is a privately owned physiotherapy practice that has built its reputation on the quality of care that it provides. We pride ourselves on highly qualified, experienced practitioners and bespoke facilities offering expert treatment for an extensive range of problems. We believe in treating the individual as a whole, determining the root cause to provide the correct course of treatment using a collaborative approach to restore fitness and promote an active lifestyle.

We boast an excellent client recovery record and work very closely with local consultants, GP’s and other medical service providers. We have a fully equipped gym with private treatment rooms and we are one of only a few physiotherapy practices in the UK to boast state of the art Advanced Spinal Technology (AST) equipment. This revolutionary treatment is used on very stiff spines and gently counter-rotates each vertebra to its neighbours, restoring spinal mobility, function and elasticity.

Emma Cooper

Ectrolysis logo

Emma is a member of l’association des professionnels en électrolyse et soins esthétiques du Québec (l’APESEQ) and the American Electrology Association.  She is also a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).

Emma trained and qualified as an electrologist at Académie Dectro in Montreal, Canada.  Prior to becoming an electrologist, she lived and worked for seventeen years in the United States, first as a lawyer, then within federal law enforcement.  She has a BS in Mathematical Sciences from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a JD (post-grad law degree) from the University of Richmond.  As such, she approaches electrolysis in a scientific, analytical, and critical manner.

As a transgender woman, Emma has been through the frankly unpleasant process of having her facial hair removed (and much of her body hair too, although she did that herself).  It hurts and it takes a long time; there’s no getting around those awkward facts.  Her experiences, both good and bad, inspired her to change careers and focus on developing a skill that would in some way help the transgender community, particularly within underserved communities outside major metro areas who don’t often have access to the highest quality resources for their gender transitions.  Given that facial (and to some extent, body) hair removal is a key part of the transitions of many transgender women, she decided to focus specifically on transgender hair removal and has developed what she believes is a cost-effective, understanding, results-driven service.
